The course of Pattern Yacht training is a nautical advanced that enables sailors to govern recreational boats of larger length and power than allowed with the title of Skipper of Recreational Craft (PER). This course includes theory and practice, addressing issues such as theory and calculation of coastal navigation and altitude, weather and safety at sea. By completing the course and passing the exams, the holder is enabled to handle vessels up to 24 metres in length, and navigate to a maximum distance of 150 miles from the coast.
What's included?
The course includes a theoretical and a practical aspect. In the theoretical part, we cover topics such as navigation, security, meteorology, law, and radio communications. The mandatory practices consist of the practice of navigation and security.
Requirements
– Be in possession of the title of PER
– Pass the knowledge test
– It must pass an official exam that covers topics such as navigation, safety and meteorology

Course development
Theory
The student will have a full access to an e-learning platform where you will find all the course material, from notes and slides used in the classes, to self-assessment questionnaires for each module of study to check the progress in the knowledge of the agenda.
Classes are held in mode telepresencial, where each student can interact with the instructor and the rest of the class, by using a virtual classroom system with access to audio and video.
These classes are recorded and available to students within the e-learning platform, for viewing at any time.
Practices
Practices mandatory safety and navigation, 48 hours of sailing, where they develop, ‘in-situ’, much of the knowledge obtained in the classroom, as well as the use of electronic instruments and execution of guards of navigation.
These practices will be carried out on board a catamaran Lagoon 38 with 11,55 mts length and 4 staterooms, which make the practice even more comfortable.
It made night navigation, organizing shifts of guard, and will examine the contents of the course Pattern of the Yacht.
The price of the practices of 48h of navigation are 480€.
Additional terms
The Spanish rule allows the use of professional title of Skipper of the Yacht, with powers for the transportation of vessels, goods, and a maximum of 6 passengers.
To do this you need to obtain the professional certificate of Basic Training in Maritime safety and Security, and to request the qualification annexed to Captaincy.
Material
As part of the course, it is sent to each student a set of navigation charts of the examination, for the exercise of letters, and navigation problems. It also provides a protractor boat and a set of rules.
